Rams Head Tavern To Close Brewery

IN THE NEWS: Rams Head Tavern in Annapolis plans to shutter its brewery with a 300-year-old history to make way for expansion of its concert venue, the Baltimore Business Journal reports. Owner Bill Muelhauser has submitted plans to add about 100 seats to the 242-seat venue to the City of Annapolis' planning and zoning department, which reviewed the proposal June 7. The restaurant brand, which has five locations across the state, has been operating a brewery outside of Maryland since 2001 because of state liquor laws preventing owners from expanding the number of breweries they run. ... Chef Longo Eyes New Namesake Location

IN THE NEWS: With Longo's restaurant at Greenspring Station closed and its corporate parent in bankruptcy, its landlord is looking for a new restaurant for the space, the Baltimore Business Journal reports. Longo's, a second venue for well-known local chef Nancy Longo of Pierpoint Restaurant, closed earlier in May after about eight months in operation. Longo said in a recent interview that she wants to try to re-open the restaurant. Brookland Center Restaurant LLC, which owned Longo's, filed to reorganize in Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Baltimore's U.S. District Court on May 11. ...
